Volunteer Tree Planting at Castle Rock

  • Robert C. Kirkwood Entrance to Castle Rock State Park 15451 California 35 Los Gatos, CA, 95033 United States (map)

Join Sempervirens Fund on Earth Day to plant black oak trees at Castle Rock! Sempervirens Fund has teamed up with California State Parks for this restoration project on a hillside near the new Robert C. Kirkwood Entrance to Castle Rock State Park. Previously covered by a Christmas tree farm, the site is in the heart of a narrow band of black oak habitat along Skyline Boulevard. Come enjoy this remarkable landscape, while stewarding the local ecology and building resilience to climate change. You’ll also get insider perspective on the construction of the new Robert. C. Kirkwood Entrance facilities, prior to the public opening later this summer. Children and friends are welcome; please share the invitation!

Activities are moderately strenuous and will include digging and planting on sloped/uneven terrain. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please bring a bag lunch and water, and wear closed toe shoes and appropriate attire for working in the dirt.

After registering on Eventbrite, you will be emailed a survey where you can let us know if you have any severe food allergies, sign up to help as a crew lead, and/or sign your kids up for the children's program. Youth program will be run by mentors from Riekes Center for Human Enhancement.
